President Puigdemont Receives A Delegation of French Members of Parliament
The delegation was invited to visit Catalonia by Diplocat and the Catalan government’s Delegation in France and Switzerland.
The President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Institutional Relations & Transparency, Raul Romeva, met on Thursday with a delegation of French Members of Parliament who are on a visit to learn first-hand about the political situation in Catalonia.
The group is made up of four Members of Parliament who represent the main French political parties, with the exception of the Front Nacional (National Front), invited by Diplocat (The Public Diplocacy Council of Catalonia) and the Catalan government’s Delegation in France and Switzerland.
This is the first time that a delegation of French Members of Parliament visits Catalonia as part of Diplocat’s International Visitors Programme. The meeting with President Puigdemont was also attended by Albert Royo, Secretary General of Diplocat, and Martí Anglada, Delegate of the Catalan government in France and Switzerland.
President Puigdemont explained the current situation in Catalonia and assured the group of his government’s commitment to hold an independence referendum no later than September of this year.
In the afternoon, the four French members of Parliament will be greeted by the Speaker of the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadell, and they will have the opportunity to talk to all political parties represented at Parliament.
