The Moritz brewery, awarded for putting Catalonia onto the world stage
The Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia and PIMEC present the third edition of the annual Catalan Business Diplomacy Award
The winner of the Catalan Business Diplomacy Award 2015 edition is the brewery Moritz. The company received this award in recognition of its contribution to promoting the image and visibility of Catalonia around the world through its international activities. The award was given by the President of the Catalan government, Artur Mas and the President of PIMEC, Josep Gonzàlez, during the fund-raising dinner held at the Pimes Awards 2015, organised by PIMEC (Catalan small and medium sized business association).
Moritz is a Catalan beer brand, created in 1856 by the Alsatian Louis Moritz Trautmann, and relaunched in summer 2004. Since then the brand has always been associated with Barcelona and Catalonia, with modern, original and often funny marketing campaigns. The company is present in 25 countries and has recently announced that it will also start exporting to Cuba, which it considers to be a growing market.
The other finalists of this year’s Catalan Business Diplomacy Award were: Albet i Noya, Azimut 360, CYGYC i Rolleat.
Through this award the Public Diplomacy Council of Catalonia and PIMEC recognize the contribution of Catalan companies’ international activities to the promotion of Catalonia and its image, or brand, worldwide. Albert Royo, Secretary General of the Council, explained that the Catalan Business Diplomacy Award “aims to recognize those companies which naturally identify themselves as Catalan and which, through their business activities, help to put Catalonia on the world stage, offering an image of excellence and spreading its values, assets and appeal – of which Moritz is a good example.”
The objectives of business diplomacy are: to disseminate the brand of the country; to focus actions on regions, markets and countries of priority interest; to eliminate obstacles for trade and commerce; to improve the international image of Catalonia; and, in brief, to increase business and investments.
